Hotel Régua Douro

This industrial-­sized riverside hotel may be an eyesore, but it's only steps from the train station. with plush, carpeted ruby (or is that tawny?) decor and windows overlooking the Douro in 45 of the 78 rooms. The pool is much appreciated on hot days. Rooms with river views cost extra, as do weekend stays.
