From a hostelling standpoint, it would be odd to sleep in non-central Belém, but this pop-art-peppered, Cape Verdean–run option is a decent-enough choice for those seeking a quieter backpacking experience. It sits inconspicuously along a commercial street moments away from the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. Dorms – with lockers – come in four-, six- and eight-bed configurations, and there are six smallish private rooms.
There's a nice outdoor terrace that morphs into a social hub when full.
