Confeitaria Rainha Dona Amélia

Alfama, Castelo & Graça

This pastelaria's speciality is Queijadas Dona Amelia, small Azorean pastries, which originally date back to 1901, when they were served to Queen Dona Amelia on a visit to the islands. With a perfect touch of cornmeal, gingerbready spices, molasses and powdered sugar, they are – dare we say it – tastier than Portugal's more famous pastéis de nata (custard tarts).

The pastelaria is one of three similar cafes nearby.
