Comur

Coimbra

Canned fish becomes baroque art at this bright, hard-to-miss shop. The interior, a blast of kitsch gold, camp frescoes and red carpet, is crammed with elaborately designed cans of sardines and all manner of preserved fish. But while the packaging is gleefully over-the-top, the fish is high quality, produced at the historic Comur cannery near Aveiro.
