Hotel Monopol

Top choice in Wrocław

Built on the site of a ruined Franciscan priory in 1892, the Monopol is one of Wrocław's destination hotels, having housed such luminaries as Pablo Picasso and Marlene Dietrich (and the less-welcome Adolf Hitler). Behind its elaborate sculpted facade you'll find 135 rooms and apartments appointed to a fine degree of luxury.

Beyond the bedroom, the in-house spa is a moodily lit oasis, and the two restaurants (Acquario, a fine diner, and Monopol, an excellent midrange affair) and cafe-bar are very tempting.
