Egypt’s answer to (although a vast improvement on) McDonald’s, this chain of absurdly popular takeaway joints has people flocking to it day and night. It serves a huge range of filled sandwiches, kebabs, ta’amiyya (Egyptian variant on falafel), and mouth-watering shawarma. The makarona firin (oven-baked macaroni and cheese) is perfect comfort food.
