Royal Dublin Society Showground

Dublin

This impressive, Victorian-era showground is used for various exhibitions throughout the year. The most important annual event here is the late-July Dublin Horse Show, which includes an international showjumping contest. Leinster rugby also plays its home matches in the 35,000-capacity arena. Ask at the tourist office for other events.

The Royal Dublin Society Showground was founded in 1731 and has had its headquarters in a number of well-known Dublin buildings, including Leinster House from 1814 to 1925. The society was involved in the foundation of the National Museum, the National Library, the National Gallery and the National Botanic Gardens.
