Cypress Resort

Top choice in Okinawa & the Southwest Islands

Kume-jima's nicest digs are found near the airport, fronting the lovely-at-sunset Shinri-hama beach. The resort boasts an attractive (though shallow and tepid) beachfront infinity pool; friendly, helpful staff; an excellent restaurant; and large, ocean-fronted rooms with deep balconies. Unless you have a car, you're limited to the resort's dining options as there are few facilities in the area, especially after dark.
