The vast former canteen at the vibrant La Friche La Belle de Mai cultural centre manages to pull off the trick of seeming both intimate and stylish. Working with local producers, a young and friendly team serves imaginative food, such as candied lamb shank with parmesan polenta, or seared tuna with thyme, sesame and chickpea puree, to clued-up diners at communal tables.
The restaurant's buzzing bar stays open until midnight from Thursday to Saturday, and there's a farmers' market every Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
