Maanja Restaurant

Friuli Venezia Giulia

Part of Residence Sauris 811, this is a surprisingly urban space, with dramatic black-slate floors, long rustic-modern fir tables and contemporary Italian chairs, and an equally dramatic view out of floor-to-ceiling windows. The food has a casual sophistication, too: plump homemade ravioli is stuffed with forest mushrooms or wild greens, while house frico comes in both soft and crispy varieties.

Sausages are served on an earthy barley risotto or there's great beef dishes. Plus the best of Friulian prosciutto, naturally.
