Big Hill Track

Great Ocean Road

A good option for backpackers with tents or a van, this free campground is 15km north of Lorne, along the road to Birregurra. You'll need to chance your luck, as there are no bookings and only 12 sites. It's subject to seasonal closures between June and late October.

You'll need to bring all your supplies (including gas stove and water), and take your rubbish with you.

The turnoff is very easy to miss – if you're coming from Lorne you'll need to put your right indicator on as soon as you pass the Mt Sabine Rd turnoff.
