Hippo Bay is easily one of the best budget options in south Kafue. It has six rustic, well-priced thatched reed chalets with attached bathroom, or a campsite with flush toilets and hot water. There's a braai and firewood to cook meals, but otherwise you can drive to its nearby sister Konkamoya Lodge for meals (breakfast/lunch US$15, dinner US$30) and drinks. Wildlife drives cost US$35.
