For a two-star budget joint, you won't do worse than a well-tended, functional room at Hôtel de Paris. Its location on a pedestrian road – peppered with open-air market stalls selling fruit, veg and flowers spilling across from the Friday-morning, place de Verdun market – ensures relative calm (not to mention sweet springtime strawberries to tempt) and some rooms have sunny balconies. Breakfast €8.
Should the Paris be full, try its similar-priced sister Hôtel de la Paix, a couple of doors down on the same market street.
