Gunn’s Camp

Fiordland & Southland

A old public-workers' camp has stood here since the 1930s, largely abandoned when roading efforts ground to a halt in WWII. Decades later the camp was revived for travellers, still with very basic cabins, heated by wood fires (fuel provided). It's about halfway between the Milford Hwy (SH94) and the start of the Hollyford Track (8km and 9km respectively).

There's electricity in evenings only, but there are hot showers and a modern kitchen.

Entry to the curio-packed museum is free if you're staying overnight.
