Tamsui Customs Officer's Residence

Taipei

This residence was constructed in 1869 after Taiwan was forced open to foreign trade by China's defeat in the Second Opium War (1856–60). This colonial-style white bungalow, raised to allow humidity to disperse, is framed by a long verandah with arched columns.

The admission fee includes entry to Fort San Domingo and Hobe Fort. The residence is closed on the first Monday of the month.
