Relocated to El Raval in 2012 as part of plans to revive the neighbourhood's cultural offerings, Catalonia's national cinema occupies a modern 6000-sq-metre building in the midst of the most louche part of El Raval. The films shown are a superior mix of classics and more recent releases, with frequent themed cycles.
In addition to two cinemas totalling 535 seats, the Filmoteca comprises a film library, a bookshop, La Monroe cafe-bar, offices and a dedicated space for exhibitions.
