Treebones Resort

Big Sur

Don’t let the word ‘resort’ throw you. Yes, it has an ocean-view hot tub, heated pool and massage treatments. But a unique woven 'human nest' and canvas-sided yurts with polished pine floors, quilt-covered beds, sink vanities and redwood decks are more like glamping, with little privacy. Communal bathrooms and showers are a short stroll away.

Basic walk-in campsites (no vehicle access) are also available. Children must be at least six years old. The on-site restaurant serves salads and burgers against panoramic views and is a handy lunchtime pit stop. After the signposted turnoff a mile north of Gorda, the resort is a steep quarter mile uphill.
