This lodge is a fairly lengthy (80km) boat ride upriver, meaning a three-night tour is recommended. It’s on a 20-sq-km private reserve in the buffer zone of Reserva Nacional Tambopata. While it feels isolated, this is one of the sleekest lodges in the southern jungle. Rooms are very comfortable, complemented by a large, impressive reception, dining and drinking area.
Neatly varnished walkways lead off to the rooms. There is even an art gallery and massage available.
Activities include a Brazil-nut trail and camp and, for children, a dedicated rainforest trail. The increased remoteness usually means better opportunities for spotting wildlife. Book online or with Rainforest Expeditions in Puerto Maldonado.
