Just after Baltimore, this reasonably priced lodge is one of the furthest from Puerto Maldonado along the Río Tambopata. Unlike most others hereabouts, it doesn't feature programmed eco-activities. Just relax, read a book, enjoy a beer or amble around 20km of well-signed trails. The lodge itself consists of 21 lovely rustic wooden cabins, and can accommodate up to 50 guests.
Fishing and canoe paddling are other optional pursuits. There is a tall observation tower, too, from where you get good views of the surrounding jungle, and a chill-out room that boasts a library and wi-fi!
Guests can now arrive by road/rough track to Filadelfia and continue by boat from there to cut down transportation time and costs (meaning one-night stays are possible). Four-day, three-night tours take in Tambopata and Lago Sandoval, but not the Tambopata reserved zone.
Book online or at Wasai Lodge in Puerto Maldonado. The cheapest prices are often only available online.
