BAM Café

New York City

Upstairs at the Peter Jay Sharp Building within the Brooklyn Academy of Music is the Lepercq Space, once a ballroom and now home to the BAM Café. This long, handsome, light-studded space is the venue for free Friday- and Saturday-evening performances of Afrobeat, jazz, R&B, world music and other diverse styles. BAM Café opens 90 minutes before most shows.

The food (light dishes from $10) is as imaginative as the program, borrowing inspiration from Indian, Korean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
