Sokos Hotel Torni

Helsinki

In 1931 this building became Finland’s tallest, and although it's now been surpassed, it still offers excellent views, especially from its Ateljee Bar. Today some rooms have been stylishly renovated in keeping with the historic feel in art-nouveau and art-deco styles, while other rooms are modern in rich red and black decor. Organic breakfasts include gluten-free options.

You pay a little extra for rooms with views, but they’re worth it.
