A little more chic than your average pizza joint, Vissios has bright red walls, crisply uniformed waiters and classic photo prints on display. The roaring eat-in, take-out trade is spearheaded by pizzas with overly sweet bases. There's also pastas, and iffy super-sweet Moquegua wine. Naples it isn’t. Nonetheless, it’s a welcome sight in the middle of the Peruvian desert.
There's a separate menu of dozens of varieties of salchipapas - a Latin American favorite of french fries topped with sliced frankfurters and loads of creamy sauces that are every bit as horrendous as they sound.
