While there's a slight Jonestown vibe, this place is pretty damn cool. Housed in the skeleton of a run-down 1920s-era bodega, the open-air surfer hangout has a 2nd-floor tent area with tents pre-installed, simple rooms with mattresses and little else, and a surfer-roots feel that harks back to the sport's anti-establishment heyday.
From the 2nd-floor platform you can see a handful of breaks, sip a mate and share tales with surfers and hangers-on from across the globe. There is a shared kitchen for guest use and a couple of cheap local places to eat nearby.
