Hostal Chavín

With its old sofas and dark lobby, the Chavín couldn't be described as a hip and happening hotel, but the central plaza location is good and the spacious, simple rooms have decent bathrooms with free-flowing hot water (although the cleanliness can be hit or miss). Breakfast is laid out in a small downstairs cafe.
