The Flying Dog, part of the same hostel chain you’ll find in Lima and Cuzco, is leader of the pack for traditional backpacker digs: clean, bright rooms, hot water and kitchen facilities. The singles and doubles are a tad pricey for what you get but have private bathrooms.
