A gorgeous Norwegian-folk-style building from 1916 with easy access to the wilds of Nordmarka. Rooms are decorated in a clean, classical style that's comfortable but far from twee, with spectacular views. Facilities are super and the hotel also has a very interesting collection of mid-century Norwegian and Danish abstract painting, on permanent loan from the Henie-Onstad Art Centre.
A nice background fact: Lysebu is owned by the Foundation for Danish-Norwegian Co-operation and was an appreciative gift from the Norwegian nation to Denmark after WWII, in recognition of their wartime food aid.
