Scandic Scandinavie Hotel

Ålesund's oldest hotel, the first constructed after the 1904 fire, has beautiful Jugendstil bones indeed, and since being taken over by the Scandic chain, it's been given a much-needed refresh. Through the lovely art-nouveau doorway, there's a bright lobby filled with modern art and, upstairs, lots of clean-lined rooms in whites, beiges and greys. There's private parking underground.
