Fiordland National Park Lodge

Right on the lake, 500m from the boat launch for the Milford Track, this comfortable lodge boasts epic views and neat rooms decorated in a distinctly 1980s blend of grey and pink. Also on-site is the Lone Moose Backpackers (www.lonemoosebackpackers.com), which offers dorms for $35 and doubles with bathrooms and lovely lake views for $110. There's also a cafe and a restaurant.
