Royal Kaytumadi Hotel

Myanmar (Burma)

Hogging the west side of the lake is Taungoo’s fanciest option, with well-appointed rooms, striking decorative detail and facilities including a swimming pool and spa. The property is owned by a businessman with close links to the generals. The same businessman also bankrolled the city gates and giant statue of Mingyinyo erected to celebrate the city’s 500th anniversary in 2010.

Better rooms face the lake; cheaper ones face a fairly noisy road. You know which one to opt for!
