This waterfront cafe commands stupendous views across the narrow Dakhla Bay. The bougainvillea-kissed pavilions are a great escape from Dakhla's dusty streets, and Samarkand is one of the town's only cafes where the clientele regularly includes both men and women. The menu features fish and other dishes; order in advance for couscous or fish bastilla (savoury-sweet pie).
