IkhNart Wilderness Camp

Top choice in The Gobi

Nomadic Journeys operates this splendid tourist camp in the reserve, about 50km drive from Shiveegobi train station. Guided wildlife walks, multiday camel treks and jeep tours are available to guests, and the main camp offers true glamping, with 15 gers supported by gorgeous hand-painted pillars, and furnished with a dung-burning oven, a private sink and reading chairs.

Vegetarian meals are on offer, bathrooms are shared, and hot showers in a private shower ger can be arranged upon request. They operate a satellite camp several kilometres away that services guests on camel treks. Oh, and their camels are adorable, by the way. You will want to take one home. The staff is as warm and welcoming as any in Mongolia.

Advanced bookings are essential so that they can send a local driver (even with the GPS coordinates, local knowledge is invaluable when picking a route through the rocky formations) to collect you at either Shiveegobi, Tsomog or Choir train stations. Transport to and from the train stations is included in the package, as are guided tours of the reserve.
