Three Camel Lodge

Top choice in The Gobi

To experience Three Camels is to know the epitome of the upscale Mongolian ger camp experience. Visitors stay in luxurious gers, which are decorated with handmade wood furnishings, and step down into sunken baths with private toilet, sink and hot showers. Their spectacular three-ger suites include a living room.

The dreamy bar and lounge is decorated with wonderful Mongolian handicrafts, and there's plenty of terraced seating with views over the steppe. There's also a bundle of activities on offer, including camel rides, mountain biking, massage and guided tours of Bayanzag, which usually include a sunset dinner at the cliffs. There's a screening room, a sunset viewpoint, and at night galaxies reveal themselves in the inky Gobi sky. They have an ecological ethos too: the property is 90% solar and they have their own organic greenhouse where they grow greens and herbs for their superlative kitchen, which caters to vegans and vegetarians. They also drilled a well that waters more than 17,000 animals belonging to local nomadic herders. You will enjoy watching them roam. This is that oasis in the desert, 66km northwest of Dalanzadgad (on the route towards Khongoryn Els) and 28km south of Bayanzag.
