Lake Chapala Inn

Top choice in Guadalajara Region

This very imposing white and orange building dating from 1906 right on the lakeshore is moments from the center of town and enjoys wonderful views over the waters and off to the faraway hills. The views from two of the four rooms (Rosa and Jacaranda) and the communal terrace are unbeatable. There's a wonderful library with fireplace and a garden with a lap pool.

There's a two-night minimum stay, and the traditional breakfast is the real deal. Ask to borrow one of the two bikes.
