Hotel Casa de Dan

Top choice in Puerto Escondido

Run by an expat Canadian, these magnificent accommodations just back from Zicatela beach are head and shoulders above much of the opposition. The 14 individualistic cabañas and apartments have all the usual bells and whistles (comfortable beds, large bathrooms and plenty of Mexican craft touches), but with a few notable extras, such as kitchens.

Here you can enjoy a proper lap pool, a veritable library of books, a deluxe affiliated cafe and the charming presence of Dan himself (and/or his excellent staff). And it all comes at a highly reasonable price. Book ahead; it’s understandably popular.
