There’s good service and then there’s the Betulia, an eight-room B&B with a pretty walled patio where the owners sit and mingle with guests over breakfast as if they were old amigos. Nothing is too much trouble here, be it offering tips about the best local places for live music or satisfying special requests for breakfast (which changes daily).
The rooms are simple but highly contemporary, rendered with the kind of underlying artiness that Mexico – and, in particular, Oaxaca – seems to excel in. If available, the two-bedroom apartment upstairs is a steal.
