Tepito

Centro Histórico

The mother of all street markets is a maze of semipermanent stalls spreading east and north from La Lagunilla, with miles of clothes, pirated DVDs, counterfeit luxury goods, electronics as well as illegal items. Enter at your own risk as the market and the Tepito neighborhood are infamous for robbery.

This also attracts dark tourism, academics and artists, such as Chinese artist Ai Weiwei who visited in 2016.
