Desayunos Lupita

East of Mexico City

This ultra-popular breakfast and lunch spot serves quintessential tlaxcalteca food, like huaraches (an oblong, fried corn base with a variety of toppings), tamales, atoles (sweet, corn-based hot drinks) and quesadillas filled with everything from huitlacoche (corn mushrooms) to squash flower. It’s glorified street food, perfect for those with a taste for central Mexican specialties but squeamish about eating from carts and stalls.

Set breakfasts include your choice of main dish, fresh-squeezed juice, fruit salad and café de olla.
