La Maison Rousse

Top choice in Martinique

This gorgeous retreat amid thick jungle in the heights of Fonds St-Denis is one of Martinique's most exquisite escapes. The simple, brightly painted rooms sleep up to four and surround a small pool with dizzying views down to the river below. The best rooms are the gorgeous and spacious suites with their own private terraces.

The excellent restaurant is a great place for a long lunch and is open to nonguests – though note that the trails through the private reserve around the house are open only to hotel residents.
