Phoenicia Hotel

Valletta

Just outside Valletta’s main gate, this 1940s grand dame reopened in 2017 after a €15-million refurbishment, and is now part of the Campbell Gray network of luxury hotels. Facilities include lush 7-acre gardens, a heated outdoor pool, a bar, and brasserie and restaurant. In 1949, Princess Elizabeth (soon to be queen) and Prince Philip danced in the ballroom.
