Boho Hostel

In a converted villa south of St Julian's, this resembles somewhere easygoing on the backpacker trail in Southeast Asia – a fun place to stay, with lots of laid-back attitude, a bamboo-framed garden terrace with hanging chair, and brightly painted dorms (and one double) looking onto the garden. There's also a separate female-only dorm in the adjacent 'Doll's House'.
