Il-Barri

Northern Malta

Run by the same family since 1940, Il-Barri is on the Mġarr village square. The slick interior is a surprise, with its monochrome and wavy ceiling. It’s a favourite local venue for a fenkata (rabbit casserole) and other Maltese-as-they-come local favourites such as aljotta (fish broth), quail and horsemeat, plus pizzas in the evening. Expect monster portions.
