Macalister Mansion

George Town

One of George Town's more distinctive boutique hotels, Macalister Mansion offers eight elegantly designed rooms in a lovely old house that's been given a slick contemporary makeover. Its restaurant, the Dining Room (open 7pm to 11pm Tuesday to Sunday), serves excellent food and there's a very nice pool and bar area too.

The mansion is around 2km outside the heritage zone; a taxi here should cost about RM15.
