Melaka City

This charming place has a garden housing a pond with turtles, while two cats patrol the premises (there's a rabbit too). Owner Tina energetically gets people out for dinner and doing things. Rooms are simple, with a fan but no wall sockets (they're in the lounge on the ground floor). Get in touch by phone as the gate is locked.

It's out of the action, but is only around a 15-minute walk into the old district.
