Apa Kaba Home & Stay

Melaka City

This tranquil homestay has a low-key kampung (village) setting, but is within walking distance of central Melaka City. The 1912 building is a mishmash of Malay and Chinese styles. Its seven rooms (the more expensive have air-con) are arranged around the reception on the ground floor. Completing the picture are a large garden with mango trees and a house cat.

The owners are long-term residents who treat guests like family. They are more than happy to impart the secrets of perfect chicken rice and where to find the best cendol (shaved-ice dessert with green noodles, syrups, fruit and coconut milk) in town.
