Safari Beach Lodge

Malawi

Safari's magical hillside gardens cascade in a riot of bougainvillea and boulders down to the beach. There are four air-conditioned rooms in the lodge, and six stone 'gazebos' (chalets), including two five-bed family units, all incorporating natural materials and featuring dinky outside bathrooms built into the rock.

The beach is a mere two minutes' walk through a wood singing with monkeys, but there's also a spotless kidney-shaped pool and a memorable beach bar. You’ll also find free kayaks and snorkels, and numerous guided activities, including hikes up Senga Mountain (US$25), village visits and boat trips to feed the fish eagles.

Half- and full-board packages are available. Children aged five to 12 pay 50%. The lodge is 1km off the main road; turn off just before the gates to the Sunbird Livingstonia Beach hotel.
