Skopje's best beef kebabs, accompanied by seasoned grilled bread, peppers and a little raw onion, are served at this classic Čaršija place. The terrace is often full. Ten stubby kebabs constitute a serious meat feast (180MKD), or you can ask for a half portion (120MKD). Pair the kebabs with ajvar (red-pepper dip) and a cabbage salad.
Destan is Skopje's most famous kebab joint and has been attracting crowds of meat lovers for decades. There's a second, more sanitised, branch tucked away in a corner of Ploštad Makedonija.
