Neringa

Vilnius

Large swathes of this once-prominent hotel are heritage-listed, and a must for fans of Soviet-era swank. The staircase and landings – with stern non-figurative woodcut decor – and restaurant – with a fabulously kitsch fountain and improving realist mosaics – are particular highlights. What refurbishments have been permitted have left the rooms nicely appointed, with flat-screens, heated floors and decent beds.
