With pretty, solar-powered huts (named after endangered Liberian species) on the edge of the forest, Libassa makes for a gorgeous weekend retreat near Marshall. Pack your swimsuit: there's a pool, a lagoon and a beach. There's also a lunch buffet run by helpful staff. The 2km stretch of road beyond Kpan Town is rough and only accessible by 4WD (45 minutes from Monrovia, 15 minutes from Marshall).

The grounds offer many options for fun in the sun, including ping pong tables, badminton, petanque and mini golf.
