Due to open in 2018, this purpose-built ecolodge from the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature will served to anchor tourism in the Badia desert. The architecture echoes the eastern castles with cool inner courtyards, thick walls and high ceilings to protect against the desert environment, while solar power and grey water recycling brings facilities up to date.
On offer at the lodge are walks to Burqu Lake and the Byzantine-era castle, birdwatching, stargazing and Bedouin cultural experiences from making local coffee to learning how to herd sheep. Expect rooms to cost around JD70 to JD90.
