The Room

Shibuya & Shimo-Kitazawa

Kyoto Jazz Massive is a DJ team that has been mixing up jazz and electronica for decades. This basement boîte, which mixes cool concrete with funky 1970s vintage lamps, is their Tokyo base, where they spin when in town. Otherwise it's other crossover acts, which might include roots, folk or funk. Always a laidback crowd in their comfy shoes.

Cover is usually only ¥1000. Events often start early, at 9pm or even 7pm. It's a little tricky to find: look for the sign atop the winding staircase outside the building on the corner.
